Step 1 -Fill Form & Make Payment

Step 2 – Eligibility Check

Step 6 – Grant of License

TYPES OF FSSAI LICENSE
FSSAI Basic Registration
Small businesses that have an annual turnover of less than ₹12 lakh are eligible for FSSAI Basic Registration.
Scope: Basic Registration is ideal for businesses like small-scale manufacturers, transporters, retailers, and distributors.
Validity: The validity of FSSAI Basic Registration is typically for 1 to 5 years, and it can be renewed as needed.

4. Passport Size Photo
5. Any other documents that may be required depending on the specific category and nature of your food business
FSSAI State License
Businesses with an annual turnover of more than ₹12 lakh and less than ₹20crore are eligible for FSSAI State License.
Scope: State License is typically suitable for medium-scale manufacturers, transporters, retailers, and distributors operating within a specific state.
Validity: 1 to 5 years and can be renewed as required.

Businesses with an annual turnover exceeding ₹20crore are eligible for FSSAI Central License.
Scope: Central License is suitable for large manufacturers, importers, exporters, and distributors with a national presence.
Validity: 1 to 5 years and can be renewed as required.

Timeline for Grant of FSSAI Registration Certificate
The time taken to receive the registration certificate depends on whether the FSSAI authority decides to inspect the applicant’s premises. The timelines are:
Without Inspection:
If the registration authority chooses not to inspect the premises, the basic registration certificate is generally issued within 7 days of application submission.With Inspection:
If the authority plans to inspect, the inspection must be completed within 30 days from the date of application. Registration will be granted if the premises are found compliant.Petty Food Businesses:
A petty food manufacturer may start operations without a certificate if:No decision is communicated,
Registration is neither approved nor denied,
Or no inspection is initiated within 30 days of application submission.
Important Note:
Granting of registration is at the sole discretion of the FSSAI authority based on satisfactory inspection and compliance. Simply submitting an application does not guarantee approval. The approval process may take anywhere from 7 to 60 working days.
Penalties and Offences for Non-compliance
Operating a food business without a valid FSSAI license or failing to comply with food safety regulations can lead to strict penalties and legal actions under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. The FSSAI enforces these measures to ensure public health and food safety.
